Dennis Shuman seeks to integrate his interests in technology, spirituality, and healing of people and the planet. Prior to retirement from the USDA, he received 7 U.S. Patents for electronic systems he developed to detect and monitor insects in agricultural products in order to reduce the quantity food destroyed without the use of toxic chemicals. He currently serves as a Death Care Consultant and leads Final Friends (http://www.finalfriends.org/), a volunteer group that assists families in having a home funeral, the spiritually engaging process of caring for their own deceased prior to final disposition of the body.
